You can also add sheer curtains, trellises or fence panels on the sides to close off the space. Pergolas are sometimes used as a type of awning that is placed on the side of a building to prevent the sun from shining through the windows and heating up the house in the summer.<\/p>\n

Outdoor dining is arguably one of the best things about summer, but on particularly sunny days, extra protection<\/a> may be necessary. A pergola over a patio can create an intimate dining area that adds a luxurious ambiance to any garden party or simple outdoor meal.<\/p>\n
